Qualifications include:

  • ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Speech/Language Therapy
  • Master's Degree from accredited university
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about language acquisition.
  • Flexible, excellent interpersonal communication skills, a positive attitude, to promote the speech and language needs of students.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Providing high quality direct speech-language therapy services to students according to students' IEPs, 504 plans or other intervention plans.
  • Conducting assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas such as speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, and language.
  • Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans and service delivery are aligned with school district policies as well as state and federal guidelines.
  • Participating in the Problem Solving Process through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.
  • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies and accommodations.
  • Ensuring students' skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and other related service providers.
  • Completing treatment notes and progress reports in timely manner in accordance to school policy.
  • Documenting all aspects of work with students according to school and state guidelines.
  • Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records and provide timely reports of progress, consistent with legal mandates and district policy.
  • Keeping abreast of best practices in speech and language therapy and language development and implementing best practices in compliance with district policy, Federal Laws, and State Regulations.
  • Participating in the collaborative process with speech/language therapist colleagues through participation in regularly scheduled Speech/Language Pathologist meetings.
  • Engaging parents and families in their student's learning.
  • Contributing productively to the school as a whole.
  • Other duties as assigned
