TITLE: Speech/Language Pathologist

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in the area of speech-language pathology, certification in communication disorders including a Kentucky license issued by the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

REPORTS TO: Director Special Education Services

JOB GOAL: To provide speech/language services to all children who are diagnosed with communication disorders, within the Boone County Schools.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Screen and assess children and youth for suspected communication disorders, to include hearing screening
  1. Consult and collaborate with other team members according to child/youth's needs
  1. Assist in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  1. Monitor Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives as they relate to communication disorders
  1. Serve as a resource for identifying and procuring augmentative communication devices and communication prostheses as needed
  1. Assist in home visits when appropriate
  1. Diagnose speech/language delays/disorders of children or youth
  1. Evaluate on a regular basis through classroom and full staff meetings, strengths and weaknesses of the program
  1. Consult and/or collaborate with classroom and special education teachers in regard to appropriate learning environment for children and youth with communication disorders
  1. Communicate with parents and interpret the communication disorders program
  1. Model mature and professional behavior for children, staff, and families
  1. Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and follow established program policies and procedures
  1. Maintain accurate and complete records and safeguard their confidentiality, as required by law, District policy and administrative procedure
  1. Participate in in-service education activities provided by the District and other self-elected professional growth activities
  1. Prepare reports and forms required by law, District policy and administrative procedure
  1. Maintain a professional awareness of current literature related to assignment, including a working knowledge of federal and state law, District policy and administrative regulations
  1. Participate in Student Intervention Team (SIT) and Admission and Release Committee (ARC) meeting with children and youth
  1. Perform other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Salary
  • 6.75 hours per day
  • 33.75 hours per week
  • 187 days
  • 9 - months
