Speech Language Pathologist

Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative SLP. The School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing treatment for students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in a school based setting. This role supports students' communication development to enhance academic achievement, social interaction, and overall educational success. JOB SUMMARY: The School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing treatment for students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in a school based setting. This role supports students' communication development to enhance academic achievement, social interaction, and overall educational success. The SLP collaborates with teachers, special educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with Vermont Agency of Education guidelines and federal regulations. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, maintaining accurate documentation, delivering evidence-based interventions, and monitoring student progress. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to inclusive education practices. Knowledge of state and federal special education laws, including IDEA, is essential. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conducts comprehensive speech-language evaluations to determine eligibility and design appropriate, evidence-based instructional services and supports. Collaborates actively with multidisciplinary teams, colleagues, and outside professionals, both within and outside of RNESU, to coordinate care and resources. Manages timely completion of all required paperwork, including progress monitoring, IEP documentation, and regular compliance updates within EdDoc. Supervise, train, and support paraprofessionals and speech-language assistants to ensure accurate delivery of delegated intervention plans. Participates in and implements EST, 504, and IEP plans, tailoring interventions appropriately to address identified disabilities, delays, or learning differences. Maintains open, proactive written and verbal communication with families to foster strong partnerships and support continuous student development. Participates in EST functions, including meetings, referral process, screening referred students, providing supplemental support, and consulting services, as requested. Prepares and maintains accurate, timely, complete, effective and confidential student records and related reports as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Maintains and provides information regarding schedules, Child Count, Medicaid billing and any other mandated state reporting in a timely manner and consistent with policies and procedures of the supervisory union. Observes federal, state, and local policies and regulations in the delivery of speech and language services. Performs other duties as assigned by administration. QUALIFICATIONS Masters's degree or higher Working knowledge of Vermont's Education Quality Standards and the Common Core State Standards Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teacher License with endorsement as speech language pathologist Certification with ASHA Experience evaluating students with language/speech challenges Experience providing succinct written and oral reports of student evaluation results and recommendations to team members Strong understanding of the IEP process and ability to develop and implement educational plans. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and community members. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
