Speech Language Pathologist (Interim - Temporary Position)

Reports to Principal and Special Education Director

PURPOSE

Coordinate; provide speech, language, voice fluency to K-12 students. Screen speech, language, hearing, evaluate, place if needed, treat. Conduct and attend IEP meetings, schedule parent meetings. Keep paperwork current, use technology to serve students (ECATS, Medicaid, Student Information Systems). Work with staff to meet speech & language needs of children.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Uses assessment skills to determine speech and language needs of students.
  • Screen, test (evaluate) students
  • Determine placement
  • Maintain records of the speech-language program and prepare reports as required.
  • Meets with related school personnel to coordinate specific objectives for individualized educational programs.
  • Works cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the goals and objectives of the local education agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of appropriate screening instruments.
  • Ability to select appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.
  • Knowledge of ECATS, Medicaid billing and Student Information Systems.
  • Ability to project and maintain a schedule.
  • Provide appropriate information on an informal or formal basis regarding speech, language and hearing programs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of statewide testing procedures.
  • Develops appropriate IEPs based on students' strengths and needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a Certification by the NC Board of Examiners and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

COMPENSATION

  • NC State Salary Schedule for Speech-Language Pathologist

This full-time position is a temporary interim position with no additional benefits.
