SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST - PART TIME

General Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SPL) assesses, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, cognitive- communication and swallowing disorders in patients. The SLP creates treatment plans and educates the patient to improve oral motor skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities using specialized testing and diagnostic instruments.
  • Develops and implements individualized treatment plans to address functional needs such as articulation, fluency, voice, and language comprehension.
  • Diagnose and treat feeding and swallowing disorders.
  • Counsels patients regarding coping strategies for disorders.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records, including evaluations and progress notes.
  • Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
  • Collaborates with physician, as needed.

Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To

  • Emphasize wellness and self -care to patients and family members.
  • Researches medical findings and studies and incorporates as appropriate.
  • Selects cost-effective and appropriate diagnostic fees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Required:

  • Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.

  • Completes all tasks within established time frame.
  • Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Speech Language Pathology theory, practice, and medical care, medical equipment and instruments, and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and determine solutions in order to best serve patients.
  • BLS or CPR certification.

Education:

Bachelors degree required. Graduate course work and clinical practicum at a college or university accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) required. Active SLP licensure in the State of Ohio in good standing required.
