About Camden Rockport Elementary School

Camden Rockport Elementary School, nestled in a spacious setting with woods and fields adjacent to the high school, serves approximately 360 students in grades PreK-4 from the towns of Camden and Rockport. CRES uses a responsive classroom structure, has a robust system of supports for students, and features the first nature-based public PreK in the state of Maine.

Position Summary

This is a new position, designed to support the increasing speech/language needs of our student population. As part of the special education team, the SLP will be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language and hearing disorders. The role will include working with a wide variety of students in our resource, life skills, and day treatment programs, as well as with students who receive speech only services. Notably, this position will include the provision of speech language services to our PreK students, either in our two nature based classrooms at Camden Rockport Elementary School or at our partner program, People Place. It will also include evaluative responsibilities for four year olds throughout our community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language, and hearing impairments
  • Aid identified students with accessing the general education curriculum
  • Support inclusion based services when appropriate
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support student success
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and record keeping
  • Create Individualized Education Plans as appropriate

Qualifications/Skills

  • Experience working with students with autism, developmental delays, and pragmatic language/social skills needs within a comprehensive model
  • Skilled active listening
  • Empathy and patience
  • Creativity and adaptability

Requirements

  • Background check, including fingerprinting
  • Master's Degree Required
  • Maine Speech Language Pathologist license
  • ASHA Certification

Pay and Benefits

  • Salary depends on experience; Teacher Scale starts at $52,686 (step B - 0)
