Location: Riley Hospital - Inpatient Rehab

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Day in the Life: Our SLPs treat a mix of oral dysphagia, pharyngeal dysphagia, cognition, and communication needs. Commonly seen diagnoses include traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, respiratory illnesses, congenital disorders, and burn injuries. Patients are typically seen twice daily.

The pediatric rehab patient population at Riley Hospital is often medically complex with catastrophic life changes and challenging social circumstances. For these reasons, it is important that our pediatric rehab therapists understand typical and delayed development, possess strong counseling skills, and demonstrate empathy for all patients and family members during very difficult life stages.

Day to day life in pediatric rehab is more predictable than acute care. Still, there can be natural variability and unexpected changes to the schedule and/or therapy plans based on patient care needs.

As the most comprehensive medical system in Indiana, IU Health offers many different career opportunities as you grow professionally. IU Health also offers a substantial benefits package, PTO Program, 401k match, and several other programs to meet your needs.
