JOB SUMMARY
The Speech Therapist (ST) provides expert evaluation and treatment of communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders for inpatients, outpatients, and contracted patients, under the supervision of the Rehab Supervisor and Director of Rehab. The ST develops and implements individualized, patient-centered therapy plans aimed at restoring function, preventing disability, and maximizing independence. Responsibilities include monitoring progress, updating patients, families, and the care team, and ensuring therapy aligns with established departmental processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs patient assessment and documents in patient record that which reflects skilled treatment, time billed and accurate utilization of CPT codes
- Develops an age-appropriate plan of care which addresses physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
- Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately, and ensures documentation of interventions, completing all daily notes, charges and other paperwork per CCH policy.
- Sees all patients as scheduled and assists with other patient needs throughout the continuum if needed, demonstrating fiscal responsibility, accountability, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes, revises plan of care and intervenes as necessary, completing progress notes timely to provide support for continuation of skilled therapy.
- Educates patient and families regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
- Provides service excellence to all customers and positive interpersonal relations with all team members.
- Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing and continuing education.
- Works scheduled work hours and participates in weekend coverage to meet patient needs;is flexible during times of high and low census and will provide coverage to other CCH service lines as needed.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment that is conducive to high quality care.
- Provide supervision to Clinical Fellows and students in a manner that ensures safe and efficient care in accordance with CMS rules, WY Board of Speech Pathology, and ASHA.
- Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent from an ASHA-accredited program and/or seeking to complete a Clinical Fellowship year (CFY)
- Licensure
- Wyoming Licensure
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) by the American Speech and Hearing Association
- Current license holders must be in good standing with the Wyoming State Board of Examiners of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.
- Experience
- One year experience preferred
