Job Summary:

This position assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients and provides speech and language therapy evaluations, modalities, and treatments in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.

Education Requirements:

Successful completion of a speech therapy program at a school of speech therapy.

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

Licensed by the state of Mississippi and registered with the ASHA (American Speech & Hearing Association. Hold a certificate of clinical competence in speech language pathology. Current license to operate a motor vehicle and have liability insurance.

Experience/Qualifications Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years' of clinical experience.

Language/Communication Skills:

English required. Multilingual capabilities enhance the ability to perform this job. Must have the ability to speak effectively and professionally to all staff, management, and all outside individuals at all levels from elementary to professional. Must have the ability to speak intelligently and in a professional manner before others. Must have supervision and leadership skills.

Reasoning Abilities:

Must be able to apply the theory of Speech Therapy and perform technical procedures. Must be able to instill confidence in patients, physicians, and personnel. Must be able to determine proper procedures and methods and evaluate results. Speech therapists must have the ability to adapt to emergency situations, be alert to changes in a patient's condition and must maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out prescriptions, receiving and translating information, and charting and reporting.
