Primary Responsibilities
Process various transactions in the accounting system, including journal entries, billing and cash receipts
Prepare supporting schedules for estimates and allocation of expenses
Assist monthly close process by reconciliating balance sheet accounts and analyzing discrepancies
Perform variance analysis of general ledger accounts
Lead and participate in monthly financial reviews with community management by analyzing financial data and interpreting results of operations
Assist with external audit requests and other corporate reporting requirements
Assist with development, maintenance and documentation of all policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification
Demonstrates proficiency in:
MS Office – Intermediate Excel skills required
Yardi (preferred), or other accounting software
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
1-5 years of relevant accounting experience (public experience preferred)
Basic understanding of accounting rules and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to work independently
Analytical skills
Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal skills; able to listen effectively to solve problems, anticipate issues and make effective decisions; and perform responsibilities as a team player
