Stationary Engineer
Assure a healthy and comfortable Hospital environment through the proper operation, control and maintenance of steam-generating equipment and other minor repairs of Hospital equipment. and or any other duties as directed to maintain compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manipulates valves to control the flow of water and fuel to increase or decrease steam pressure.
- Adjusts equipment controls to correct malfunctions when indicated by observation or in response to warning lights, horns or bells.
- Inspects boiler room observing the operation of equipment meters and gauges, compares findings to defined specifications.
- Maintains operating logs which include: fuel consumption, steam produced, blow-down time and meter readings.
- Records readings from bulk tanks of medical gases; performs rounds as assigned.
- Performs minor repairs and maintenance of boilers, i.e., replacing gaskets, tightening joints, repairing valves, repacking pumps, etc.
- Performs other minor repairs on Hospital campus as assigned, or in resonse to erquests from staff on weekends or 2nd/3rd shifts.
- During snowstorms, responsible for sanding/salting of major roads on Hospital grounds and shoveling and sanding/salting of major pedestrian entry points to buildings.
- Completes required paperwork properly, using computer technology enhancements, as required; fulfills annual mandatory employee testing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3-5 years boiler operation and maintenance experience preferred.
EDUCATION
- Less than High School; must read and write English
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Apprenticeship or related trade school training or other directly related work experience.
OTHER
- Valid New York State Driver's License
