Sterile Processing Tech

SALARY INFORMATION:

  • $15.00 - $20.00 Dependent on experience may vary outside this range
  • Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts


BASIC FUNCTION: The Sterile Processing Technician serves as an integral member of the healthcare team, diligently ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Operating behind the scenes, they play an indispensable role in maintaining the optimal functionality of the surgery room, providing support for seamless surgical procedures and aseptic practices in the medical domain.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean, test, adjust, assemble and sterilize reusable medical supplies, instruments and equipment.
  • Store and distribute patient care medical instruments and equipment to hospital units.
  • Stock medical supply storage areas.
  • Perform, analyze and document sterilizer functions, test vacuums, chemical and biological indicators.
  • Valuate and inspect equipment
  • Various duties including but not limited to answering telephones, handling face to face interactions with patients and hospital personnel.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have current BLS card within three months of hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
  • Familiarity with hospital supplies, equipment, instruments.
  • Must be proficient within six (6) months of hire in HealthStream, Kronos, Allscripts Touchworks, Meditech, PACS, MUSE, Galactica, QHN, and Midas.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of certified Central Service Technician program or previous experience as Sterile Processing Technician preferred.
  • Six months' experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Certification in field is preferred.
