Surg Tech

Under the leadership of the Nurse Manager, this role is a vital part of the surgical team, supporting a wide range of procedures from preparation through completion. The Surgical Technologist expertly prepares and scrubs for diverse surgical operations, anticipates the needs of surgeons, and ensures all specialized operating room equipment-such as surgical drills and advanced instrumentation-is properly assembled and ready for use.

This position is responsible for maintaining a strict aseptic environment, safeguarding patient safety at every stage of care, and ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are handled, operated, and maintained according to best practices. The role also includes operating both simple and complex surgical equipment, monitoring sterilizers and sterilization processes, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards.

As a collaborative team member, the Surgical Technologist plays a key role during procedures and supports the overall workflow of the department, contributing to efficient operations, high-quality patient care, and a culture of safety and excellence in the operating room.

Hourly Pay Rate: $24.00 - $35.40

Qualifications

Education:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have graduated from a vocational program for Surgical Technicians or Technologist.
  • Three (3) years of on-the-job training experience may be accepted in place of completion of a vocational program.


Experience:

  • Prefer three to five (3-5) years of experience with diverse surgical specialties.


Certification/Licensure:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
  • Requires specialized knowledge and skills in operating room practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are utilized to enhance and encourage collaborative staff and community relationships.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and be familiar with operating procedures to have instruments ready for surgeons.
