Surgical Technologist

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care. In this hands-on position, you'll prepare and maintain the sterile field, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and ensure the operating room is fully equipped for each procedure.

You'll collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, and other perioperative professionals to support a wide range of surgical cases-using both advanced and standard surgical equipment-while keeping patient safety front and center.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain a sterile surgical environment
  • Scrub in and assist during surgical procedures, anticipating surgeon needs in real time
  • Assemble, operate, and monitor surgical instruments and specialized equipment
  • Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and oversee sterilization processes
  • Support departmental operations and contribute as an active member of the surgical team

Hourly Pay Rate: $30.00

Qualifications

Education:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have graduated from a vocational program for Surgical Technicians or Technologist. Three (3) years of on-the-job training experience may be accepted in lieu of completion of a vocational program.

Experience:

  • Prefer three to five (3-5) years of experience with diverse surgical specialties.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Requires a BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center within 3 months.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
  • Requires specialized knowledge and skills of OR practices.
  • Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance and encourage collaborative staff and community relationships.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and must be familiar with operating procedures in order to have instruments ready for surgeons.
