TELEMETRY MONITOR TECH
Position Summary:
The Telemetry Tech is responsible for continuous observation of cardiac rhythms in the Central Monitoring Room. The Telemetry Tech interprets cardiac rhythms and distinguishes between normal and abnormal rhythms. The Telemetry Tech reports cardiac rhythm information in an accurate, timely manner to nursing staff.
Minimum Education: High school or equivalent
Minimum Experience: On-the-job training following successful completion of telemetry monitor class and CPR through the education department.
Additional Qualifications: After one year of experience as monitor technician, Certification as a Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International is required.
Preferred Education: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Medical Terminology
Skills: Documentations Maintains logs with required documentation
Maintains patient charts with required documentation
Skills: Machine/Tools Fax machine, copier, computer, printer, office supplies, Telemetry Monitor
Skills: Communication Never leave the monitoring Room unattended
Seeks help from RN when needed
Communicates patient with CDU and remote unit in a timely manner
Notify Biomed as needed
Physical Demands: Mostly sedentary work
Requires strong concentration skills
Lifts supplies/equipment
Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
Handles emergency or crisis situations
May perform emergency care
Subject to long irregular hours
Pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
