POSITION SUMMARY - Travel PI Coordinator
POSITION DUTIES - This position Collaborates closely with Trauma Program leadership to ensure compliance with the State of Texas Trauma Statutes and the American College of Surgeons standards related to trauma performance improvement. The Coordinator also assists the Director of Trauma Services with injury prevention activities and programs for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, as well as for providing trauma-related educational programs to the nurses of the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Ortho/Surgical/Trauma Unit, and other applicable departments.
Activities/functions include coordination and facilitation of the Trauma Performance Improvement Program. Must be comfortable with both interpreting the clinical care provided to trauma patients and be comfortable with advanced computing and database administration. This encompasses all areas and disciplines of the hospital that participates in the care of the admitted injured patients. Assists with coordination and facilitation of performance improvement data collection, analysis, trending and benchmarking of data and outcomes. Also participates in Trauma Registry data collection and completes data collection for input into the Trauma Registry.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing. Minimum 3 years nursing experience, preferably in a Trauma designated facility.
Must possess the leadership and communication skills to coordinate an interdisciplinary program.
Must be able to evaluate patient care within the framework of standard trauma clinical practice guidelines.
Must be able to monitor and/or perform data collection, utilize data to evaluate processes and identify opportunities for improvement, and serve as team leader for implementation of process changes.
Must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to be an effective liaison among the medical/nursing staff, as well as the community.
Ability to effectively educate families and peers.
Ability to handle stressful environment and multiple projects simultaneously.
Plans and implements effective education techniques, and evaluate program effectiveness
Recent experience in trauma outcomes research and intervention is desirable
Basic to advanced computer skills, Microsoft Word and Excel
