Unarmed Officer

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

The purpose of a Security Officer is to provide a proactive, visible deterrent to the commission of crimes on hospital property. Further, Officers are required to respond to crimes and disturbances on hospital property and to take appropriate action. These responses may require officers to apprehend violent offenders, assist staff with restraining patients and document these occurrences. Security Officers are responsible for the protection and safety of the Hospital, its patients, employees, visitors of all age groups and their property. In the performance of their duties, officers should always make patient care their priority. This position reports to the Security Supervisors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a security function, investigative techniques or closed-circuit television monitoring is preferred.
• Must possess the ability to document occurrences in writing accurately
