- DEFINITION OF POSITION
- The Unit Coordinator position is vital to the smooth operation of the nursing unit. This person interacts with other unit staff members, patients, patients' family members, physicians, and other departments in order to ensure comfort, safety, and timely medical/nursing care for the patients on the unit. Strength in interpersonal relationships is a necessity since the Unit Coordinator is, in many cases, the first-line hospital representative in dealing with the public.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional
- High school graduate.
- Basic medical terminology course or comparable experience.
- Basic understanding of computers and/or the desire and aptitude to learn.
- One to two years work experience. Experience may be as a Nursing Assistant (with clerical skills), secretary, or in other related field.
- UC Certification preferred.
- Preferred BLS Healthcare or required within first 6 months.
