Vascular Technologist
- May rotate to cover needs in North Adams
- DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
- The vascular technologist performs vascular imaging and mechanical testing on patients as requested by the referring physician. Utilizing duplex and Doppler imaging techniques, the technologist scans the patient and provides preliminary findings to the interpreting physician. The technologist works independently, consulting with the ordering AND interpreting physician when important, unusual, or unexpected findings are encountered. The technologist must have the ability to synthesize varying amounts of data related to the patient's medical history. The technologist is responsible for the patient's welfare for the time the patient is in the outpatient facility or for the length of time the inpatient is in the hospital testing area. Works under general supervision to perform duties and responsibilities as outlined for a Staff Vascular Technologist. Adheres to BMC protocol with exception of a physician's specific request.
- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
- Experience:
- One year experience in dedicated vascular lab, or three years full-time experience in general ultrasound preferred
- Education and Training:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent, or graduate of an accredited clinical ultrasound program.
- License, Certification & Registration:
- RVTRVS - Must be an RVT through the ARMDS, RVS through the CCI, or eligible to sit for either registry exam
- Other Requirements:
- Must be able to function independently and have excellent interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with physicians, nursing, and other support personnel.
- Must be able to operate complex ultrasound equipment.
- Must be able to operate HIS and CIS computers.
- Must have working knowledge Marquette treadmill and monitor.
- Must have working knowledge of audiovisual equipment.
