Child and Family Healing Center is seeking a skilled and dynamic Weekend Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive and holistic health care for approximately 40 students in our residential program. This is a 12-month 32-hour per week position working Friday - Sunday. Voluntary opportunity for paid overnight on-calls. Benefits included.
Ideal candidate will have pediatric experience; experience in a sensitive-treatment area, such as hospice, mental health, or oncology preferred. Ability to nurture and maintain relationships with staff and residents while delivering meticulous care is a must.

Provides for comprehensive holistic health care and medical service delivery for youth served. Ensures compliance with licensing standards, Medicaid regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains medical records consistent with licensing standards, Medicaid regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies and procedures; ensure compliance with all privacy/confidentiality laws and regulations; ensure timely responsiveness to Agency Utilization Review as well as other pertinent regulatory/accrediting bodies.
Participates in the quality assurance process for ongoing process improvement to include efficient workflow process and documentation accuracy.
Supports the department with scheduling and coordination of medical, dental, psychiatric, and other related appointments, treatments, and care. Collaborates with contracted physician services team to ensure appropriate consultation and seamless care coordination.
Provides first aid and emergency medical care; ensures follow-up care. Respond to client emergencies and potentially unsafe situations.
Provides programmatic and clinical expertise to assist staff with client care and required documentation; Understands the Weekend Nurse s role to provide a consistent and reliable nursing department presence through regular rounds, medication administration, and engagement with clients and staff.
Completes and monitors medication administration and documentation; ensures daily audits of medication administration records are complete; provides support and oversight to medication technicians during regular shifts.
Contributes to agency compliance with OSHA requirements as it pertains to blood borne pathogens, Asthma, lead poisoning, and tuberculosis.
As assigned, assist in administering TB screens to all agency staff upon hire and annually thereafter, as well as client TB screenings.
Ensures all restraint debriefings are complete and filed within one hour of restraint.
Assists Lead Nurse with pharmaceutical management including doctor s orders, medication delivery, documentation, pre-authorizations when needed, follow up, and electronic health record maintenance. Maintains ongoing relationship with agency pharmacy.
Provides on call coverage as follows: Friday evening to Monday morning coverage each weekend.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
When assigned, provide orientation and in-service training for staff members on topics such as medication management, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, TB, Asthma, lead poisoning, and other related areas.
Periodic travel including transportation in personal or agency vehicle may be required.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Registered Nurse in Virginia with Board Certification. Pediatric experience required. Psychiatric or sensitive-area experience preferred.
